NCC concerns remain over Abnormal Loads Guidance

10, July 2025

The NCC remains deeply concerned that the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) guidance for police forces published last month does not address the specific issues that our industry faces and is open to wide interpretation.

It is accepted that it will take time for the Guidance to “bed-in”, but early feedback also indicates there is a widespread mixed response to the Guidance from forces, with resistance in certain areas that continues to impact on key movements in our industry.

The movement of holiday caravans remains governed by the existing legislation but key, specific elements in the previous version of the Guidance such as the width dimensions of a load and certain easements have been removed, despite robust lobbying by the NCC of the NPCC.

With this in mind and the feedback from members the NCC and the BHHPA have agreed to work together to draft a road-map that will cover short-term and long-term objectives specific to our industry; parks, distributors and manufacturers.

Further information will follow but, in the meantime, please contact policy@thencc.org.uk with any views or comments.
