Government announces plans to “turbocharge housebuilding”

20, June 2025

More than 500,000 homes will be built through the Government-backed ‘housing bank’ that will unlock billions in private sector investment.

The official announcement, available here, states: “The National Housing Bank, a subsidiary of Homes England, will be publicly owned and backed with £16 billion of financial capacity, on top of £6 billion of existing finance to be allocated this Parliament, in order to accelerate housebuilding and leverage in £53 billion of additional private investment, creating jobs and delivering over 500,000 new homes.”

The NCC recognises the UK is grappling with a housing crisis and has made representations to Government that our industry is part of the modular home build solution with great potential. Residential parks in England alone provide homes for more than 155,000 people.
