In response to a backlog of driving tests created by the pandemic, and in line with the package of support measures intended to help address the HGV driver shortage announced by the Secretary of State in July 2021, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is now seeking views on a number of proposals including:
to allow car drivers to tow a trailer without having to take another test (the B+E)
Government says it will need to be mindful that any changes to the legislation covering driving licences must be balanced in line with ensuring road safety is maintained.
The consultation closes on 7 September and responses can be made online.
