VAT UPDATE as at 17th May

Parliamentary Petition

  • The Stop the Caravan Tax petition has been extended to Tuesday 22 May. We understand the number of signatures to the petition received so far is now in the tens of thousands which is great news. But don’t stop – you now have a further 4 days to collect signatures and send them to on to your MP
  • The petition will be presented to the House of Commons during the evening of Tuesday 22 May and Graham Stuart MP has asked if as many MPs as possible can join him to present the petition on behalf of their constituents
  • Please ask your MP to join him for the presentation in the House – due to take place around 10.00pm. MPs can contact Graham Stuart’s office on 0207 219 4848 or email his adviser Amanda Farris for more details

All Party Parliamentary Tourism Group

  • This parliamentary group has invited representatives from both trade associations to present to MPs and other interested parties on the impact of the Government proposals to impose VAT on static caravans.
  • John Lally, NCC Director General and Ros Pritchard, Director General of the BH&HPA will address the group on the impact of the proposals on the industry, employment, regional economies and tourism generally.
  • The meeting will take place on Tuesday 22 May between 4.00pm and 5.00pm in Room W1 of Westminster Hall, London. All MPs are invited to attend and we would ask you to make your MP aware and encourage them to attend the meeting.

HMRC Consultation – DEADLINE – FRIDAY 18th May

  • Don’t forget to file your submission to HMRC on their proposals to impose VAT on the sale of caravan holiday homes by close of business tomorrow – Friday 18th May. Please send your submission to David Roberts at HMRC by:
