Opposing VAT on Caravan Holiday Homes

MPs continue to demand withdrawal of proposal to add VAT to Caravan Holiday Homes - Your help still urgently needed - 30th April 2012

The Adjournment debate in the Commons last Thursday evening saw a large number of MPs from across all regions continue to challenge the Treasury on their figures and Government’s policy in relation to the proposed application of VAT at 20% on the sale of caravan holiday homes. The debate was once again very forceful and well informed from both sides of the House. MPs once more called upon Government to think again and for the proposal to be rejected.

To keep the pressure up, the industry and its customers are being asked to support these initiatives:

Petition to the House of Commons

Graham Stuart MP has issued a petition to the House of Commons that has been agreed by all of the East Yorkshire MPs. Its aim is to demonstrate the widespread strength of feeling against the VAT proposal from as many people as possible.

Please print the petition, gather as many signatures as possible and make sure the signed copies get to your local MP by Friday 11 May.

Caravan Tax Petition

HMRC consultation document - deadline Friday 18th May

Responding to HMRC’s consultation document is crucial and every response counts. We will be issuing guidance to members by week ending 4th May 2012, to help them with their submission.

Early Day Motion

Graham Stuart MP has also drafted an Early Day Motion (EDM) which he intends to table in the new Parliament which starts on Wednesday 9th May (after the State Opening)

With a large number of supporters, EDMs can send a strong message and many attract a great deal of public interest and media coverage. Please make your MP aware of the EDM and encourage him/her to sign it.

The e-petiton

Please also sign this e-petition (in addition to the written petition mentioned above) and circulate the link to others.

The NCC continues to press actively for the Government to withdraw this proposal and we thank you very much for your continued support.
